Thermal Week 6 was a fantastic week for Team Westwood. Blue Ribbon Winners were Beth Ugoretz on her wonderful horse, Fortunate, in the Adult Amatuer Hunters. Also in the Blue Ribbon group was Dianne Pattison’s Got Attitude, jumping clear rounds in the 5 Year Old Jumpers. Pam Theodosakis was a Primary color in all three of her Adult Amateur Hunter classes on Happy Hour. A great way to wrap up a very fun circuit. We had many winners throughout the circuit. Casani Z winning a Low Amateur Owner Hunter Classic with Sybil Rose. Julie Hancock Champion in the A/O Hunters on Willow CBF. Within Reach lived up to his name, Champion in the Low A/A jumpers with his very proud owner and rider, Stephanie Jensen. Julie Hancock’s Catch Me couldn’t be caught in one of the 1.20 M. Jumper classes of over 60 entries. Now after a couple weeks home at the Riding Club we are ready to go again. It’s off to Blenheim in San Juan Capistrano for some jumping on the grass.
Debbie Rocha sent over some great new photos for the RRC website!

Royal Oak Stables finished out 2015 with new horses & new members adding to our show team, an ultra fun Game Day, & a very successful Jingle Bell Horse Show.
We would first like to congratulate the following riders on their new purchases or leases: Liz Seltzer & Nelson, Faith DiMaria & Flynn, Isabelle Khoury & Dolly, Heather Weckel & Boo, Sadie Debin & Boss, Tiffany Swanson & Jewel, Mayannah Crevoiserat & Cody, and Grace Miller & Paris. We look forward to the new bonds and wish you all much success in the upcoming 2016 show year!
In November, Royal Oak students and staff got to let loose with a Game Day Fun Show. There were prizes for a wide variety of races and challenges for all skill levels. Highlights included a No-Stirrup High Jump, Ride & Run, Musical Buckets, Bean Bag Race, and many, many more fun & hilarious games!
In December, the show team braved the rain & mud and found success at the annual Jingle Bell Horse Show at Del Mar Horsepark. Every rider looked confident in either a new division or on their new mount. And every rider returned home with a ribbon won! A fantastic start to the 2016 show season. We are very much looking forward to what 2016 has in store!
Royal Oak Stables just finished a extremely successful week at the GSDHJA Championships at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. They brought 12 horses & ponies with very high expectations & did not disappoint, returning with 8 Champions & 11 Reserves & 99 ribbons in total. All 12 riders were at least in the top 4, with many earning a Champion or Reserve, despite extremely large class sizes & very stiff competition.
Highlights included Juliana Sapp winning her second Mini Prix aboard Whisper. Julia Ventura & Bella won Reserve in the Mod Jr/Am Jumpers in only their 3rd time in the division. Madison Drum & Archie were clean & fast in every round, which earned them consistent top ribbons. Faith DiMaria & Boss were Champions of the Low Children’s Hunters. Peyten Seltzer & Lovey were stellar all week, winning a Champion & 6 Reserves in the Crossrails & Short Stirrup. Isabelle Khoury rode great & won 2 Champions & 2 Reserves on Charming in the Crossrails. And our 5 new Walk Trotters Heather Weckel, Carly Rodriguez, Mayannah Crevoiserat Tiffany Swanson, & Victoria Bou were fantastic. They ribboned in every class & even earned 3 champions!
We are so proud of all of our riders & their accomplishments throughout the show year!!
Joe’s list of achievements is too long to mention. He has earned the highest regard of respect from his peers. Is considered an exceptional teacher and master horseman.
Before the legendary Ray Hunt passed away, I asked him who to turn to for a teacher to continue learning the things Ray had started me on. Rays response was without hesitation when he said, “Joe Wolter and Bryan Neubert”.
It is an exceptional opportunity for horsemen and women in the area to come and learn from one of the industry’s best. Don’t be fooled by the clothes. Joe also has experience riding Hunters and mentors some of the best dressage riders in the country.
The clinic will begin at 8am. There will be a one hour break for lunch where folks can visit with Joe. Things will then continue until 5:00. Joe will be working with riders one on one.
